The research group of Prof. Vishik invited applications for a postdoctoral position.  The successful candidate will use angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and other x-ray based techniques to study copper-oxide high temperature superconductors.  Candidates with strong expertise in ARPES (instrumentation and data analysis), synchrotron-based techniques, machine-learning and non-learning based approaches to data analysis, and familiarity with unconventional superconductivity are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform ARPES and other experiments at synchrotrons and at UC Davis
  • Design experiments and data analysis methods
  • Help mentor graduate and undergraduate students

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics or similar field
  • Strong expertise in ARPES OR machine-learning applications to condensed matter OR unconventional superconductivity is required
  • Expertise in two or more of the above is strongly desired
  • Experience with synchrotron-based experiments is strongly desired

Application materials:

  • CV including publication list
  • two letters of recommendation

Other notes:

  • Successful candidate may be stationed at a US synchrotron facility for part of their appointment
  • Appointment is for two years, extendable to three. Start date is flexible, but before August 2026 is preferred.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.  For additional information or to apply, contact Prof. Inna Vishik ivishik@ucdavis.edu
